About The Attraction
Situated approximately 5 km rising from White Hall on a bifurcating road of the Gangtok–Nathula highway, Hanuman ToK is 11 km away from Gangtok town. Situated at a height of roughly 7,200 ft, one can get a spectacular view of Gangtok town and the nearby hills. Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Hanuman Tok has been managed by a division of the Indian Army and can be observed to be completely neat and clean. The legends mark this as the place where Lord Hanuman rested while he was carrying Sanjeevani for saving Lakshmana’s life. A short distance before the stair case leding to the temple, the royal cremation grounds of Lukshyama are located, where the mortal remains of the members of the former Namgyal dynasty were confined to the flame. There are quite a few chortens and stupas at this place, which signify the exact locations where the last rites of the royal corpses were carried on. The journey to Hanuman Tok is a fascinating one, which offers beautiful views of the capital city of Gangtok and the surrounding hilly regions. The Hanuman Tok in Sikkim itself provides wonderful photographic views of the Khangcendzonga. The snow-capped mountain peaks look heavenly from this temple. Filled with history, culture and breath taking view, this temple is surely worth a visit.Best Time
