One of the top things to do in Sikkim, cable car ride in Gangtok brings opportunity of witnessing the stunning views of the picturesque Gangtok town from the highest point of the city compelling one to visit the town the second time. The ride covers a distance of one km in just seven minutes and allows one to enjoy a bird eye view of the busy city engaged in mundane tasks. There are three terminal stations for this ropeway ride with its lower station at Deorali Market, the intermediate terminal at Nam Nang, and upper terminal station is at Tashiling.
This is one of the greatest attractions in Gangtok and should not be missed. It's a double-cable zig back ropeway which is operational since December 2003. Each cable car can carry up to 24 passengers.
They do not always wait until the cable car is full. But during high tourist season, there are usually long queues and each ride gets full before it starts. And if it gets full, you will struggle to get a vantage point inside the cable car unless you are one of the first to get in.
