About The Attraction
Out of 572 islands of Andaman and Nicobar, Ross Island is one, about 2 km east of Port Blair. Former Administrative Headquarter for the islands, this place tells its story of creation. The headquarters were then shifted to Port Blair. One can see the remainder of its rich past in the ruins of the church, swimming pool and the chief commissioner's residence, destroyed by an earthquake in 1941. The headquarters were then shifted to Port Blair. There is also a cemetery and a small museum managed by the Indian Navy. This place was once called the Paris of the East but now it is just an island in shambles Nature nevertheless remained true to its form and made what was left of the ruins beautiful. Now the island is a beautiful exploration of how nature has covered what was left of the ruins and has made a green paradise. Despite being a ruined land this island still successfully grabs the attention of people. The island is an alluring beauty and attracts not only adventurous people but also many History enthusiasts due to its historic significance.
