About The Attraction
The Lion Park lies between Lanseria Airport and Fourways, making it incredibly convenient and a wonderful first encounter with South Africa.
If you are pressed for time, or your trip does not include a journey to one of the major game reserves in South Africa, then it follows that you might still want to view lions 'up close and personal' in a wildlife conservation enclosure.
Infact, if you've just jetted in via Lanseria Airport, you could make it one of the first things you do after stepping off the aeroplane, as the Lion Park lies between Lanseria Airport and Fourways, making it incredibly convenient and a wonderful first encounter with South Africa.
Over 80 lions, including a number of rare white lions, share the Lion Park with other carnivores like the cheetah, wild dog, brown and spotted hyena, and a number of antelope and zebra.
A visit to the Lion Park includes an opportunity to interact with the animals in the Cub World area, which includes a giraffe feeding platform that brings you 'eye to eye' with these superbly tall beasts and, of course as the name suggests, you get to touch and even play with little cubs, and a few sub-adult, not-so-little lions, and get your photograph taken with them.
You can self-drive through the main park as the route is fairly easy to follow, or take a guided game drive that is possibly more informative.
The only downside is that the animals are in enclosures but the upside of that is that those who could never afford to see these animals in their natural surrounds can visit the Lion Park and experience first hand these beautiful beasts.
