About The Activity

Some of the best animal viewing is done on game drives. These drives bring you closer to the animals either in an open 4x4 of a closed 4x4. Searching for wild animals with a safari truck., that’s what ‘Game Drives’ are all about. In other words: a real safari in South Africa. A game drive is highly recommended if you are staying in one of the villas of Homes of Africa. Wild animals are mostly active in the early mornings and late afternoons. That’s why the Game Drives always start early, about 5 o’clock in the morning. Game drives last 3 to 4 hours and includes an extensive breakfast. Coffee and snacks are also included in the Game Drive. Only a fifteen minutes drive away from the holiday homes of Homes of Africa, you’ll find the Kapama Private Game Reserve, a.k.a. Kapama. Kapama covers 13.000 acres of unspoiled nature, which makes it the largest private wild reserve in its surroundings. It is possible to book a game drive (night-drive) at Kapama during your stay at one of the vacation rentals. The fact that you are able to search for the Big Five from an open car, which permits you to observe the animals’ close-up, makes for a highly recommended activity. An experienced ranger and a specially trained ‘spotter’ will guide you and tell you all about the wildlife. The Klaserie River flows through the reserve and creates an attractive habitat for local wildlife. Going on safari there will greatly enhance your chances of spotting the Big 5. Wrap up the day with a lavish South African dinner in a beautiful setting and share your memories of the day with other participants of the safari.
